The Carnegie Art Museum was funded by the Carnegie Foundation and built in the Greco-Roman architectural style; it now serves as Oxnard's municipal art museum. The museum is just a block away from Plaza Park, a civic park that hosts a variety of events throughout the year. The museum's permanent collection of over 1500 Californian art pieces and ethnographic objects includes a Hollywood photography archive featuring photos by George Hurrell and works by artists such as Arthur Beaumont, Colin Campbell Cooper, and Millard Sheets.
